So even after all these you still suspect you have been a victim. Well here are some warning signs to look for and report immediately.
-To start it is very important for anyone to be sure they are checking their credit report at least two to three times a year. If you see anything that is not correct or you did not authorize you need to put the red flag up right away to prevent further damages to your credit and reputation.
-Any credit card statements you may receive in the mail that you did not order or authorize. This sends a red flag that someone else has opened your account without your knowledge or permission but knows your private information.
-If you are turned down for a new loan you need to find out why especially if you feel or know you have good credit. This could be a sign that either your credit rating was not as good as you originally thought our someone has opened several various accounts under your name and they are all delinquent. Report this to your local authorised and major credit bureaus right away to avoid even more damage to your credit rating.
-If you receive a call from a creditor that you know you do not have an account with you need to let the creditor know you did not authorize any of the charges in question. They can help you obtain the appropriate forms to correct it.
-If you do not receive any bank or credit at the designated times that you should receive them each month or do not receive a statement at all call your creditor and find out what is wrong. Be sure to verify your address.
-If you receive any calls from customer service departments for items you did not purchase yourself.
Most people today do not give identity theft any thought. They do not realize the potential damage to their credit in which they place themselves. Remember when throwing away papers. black out any personal information and shred the document this is the first step. Also, be sure to keep an eye out for the possible warning signs and how to take care of them. Protect your credit and be safe.
